Keith was born on July 9, 1956, in Lubbock, to Emory and Mary Belle Rowell Potts. He attended Parsons Elementary School, Atkins Junior High School, and Monterey High School before graduating from Texas Tech University.
Keith was a longtime Lubbock businessman with numerous affiliations throughout the years, including involvement with health clubs, the Monterey Chapter of AMBUCS, and Lubbock Life Underwriters. He was perhaps best known for his 36-year career as a State Farm agent before retiring in 2019.
Keith enjoyed Texas Tech football and basketball, deer hunting, traveling, coaching his daughters’ basketball teams, and spending time with friends and family.
Keith was known for his joyful spirit. Many shared with his family that he was always smiling and truly a good man who looked out for those around him. To his wife, he was a loving and thoughtful husband, always quick to solve any problem that arose. To his daughters, he was a hardworking and devoted father—always laughing and always reminding them daily, “You are blessed and highly favored.”
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Mary Potts, and his brother, Kent Potts. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, LeJae; his daughters, Meredith Elrod, Katie (Josh) Cassio, Rachel Potts (Justin Weaver), and Annalise (Alex) Zahn; his four grandchildren; and his brother, Craig Potts.
It is worth mentioning that, in his final moments surrounded by family, Keith was reminded that he, too, was “blessed and highly favored” as he went to be with Jesus.
Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Keith may be made through Lubbock National Bank to benefit “AMBUCS AmTrykes.”
