

Lane Edward Hardwicke was born on January 17, 1966 in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1984 and three years later from Texas Tech University with an Electrical Engineering degree. He worked at the U.S. Patent Office for six months and returned to Texas to teach math at Kress for one year. For over thirty years he has been renting, restoring, and renovating houses in Lubbock, helping many people from all walks of life with his generosity and love and understanding. Lane had multiple hobbies and interests, including piano playing, singing in a church choir, mountain climbing, swimming, arm wrestling, and pets. He was an active participant in almost every family reunion and many family events. He was married to Rachel Hardwicke in 1999. They have one daughter, Natasha Michelle Hardwicke, who is a graduate of Lubbock High School and was the light of his life.
Lane passed away suddenly in a car accident on June 11, 2023 at the age of 57. He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence G. Hardwicke and Linda Bartels Hardwicke of Abilene, Texas. He is survived by his daughter Natasha and her mother Rachel, his brothers Alan Clark Hardwicke (Sarah) of Ballinger, Texas, Fred Lawrence Hardwicke (Beth) of Childress, Texas, and Keith Richard Hardwicke (Luz) of Medellin, Colombia. Memorials may be sent to Forrest Heights United Methodist Church of Lubbock. Funeral service will be at Forrest Heights United Methodist Church on Friday, June 16, at 1 p.m. with Doug Hennsley officiating.
A funeral service for Lane will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Forest Heights United Methodist Church, 3007 33rd St, Lubbock, TX. Following the funeral service will be a graveside at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery, 5740 West 19th St, Lubbock, TX.
