

Lilia Orina Allas left this world to meet our Lord on Wednesday October 31, 2012. Her family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, November 6th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas. A funeral mass will be held at the Christ the King Cathedral in Lubbock, TX on Wednesday , November 7th at 10:00am. Interment will be at the Resthaven Memorial Park following the mass.
Lilia (“Lily”) was born on June 19, 1928 in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines. She was a Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines with a Master of Arts degree in English. After she emigrated to the United States in 1976, she became an insurance underwriter for the New York Life Insurance Company.
Lily was a dynamic Catholic. She was a member of the vocations committee and was a Eucharistic Minister at the Christ the King Cathedral and at St. Michael’s church in Flushing, New York, prior to moving to Texas. Lily was passionate about art and travel, having visited over 40 countries in her lifetime. She loved to cook for her family and friends, filling them with good food and great conversation.
Lilia will be greatly missed as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marcelino. She is survived by her children Ester Fider (husband Erlito), Lourdes Baula (husband Cezar), Jose Allas (wife Nenette), Grace Alcid (husband Andrew) and Jesus Allas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Nenita Bautista, Angelita Balolong and Adolf Orina.
