Lurdes Lara

Services for Lurdes Lara, 86 of Lubbock will be held on Monday, February 27th at 10:00 Am at La Trinidad United Methodist Church, 504 46th Ave D. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. There will also be a service of prayer on Sunday, February 26th at 7:00 PM in Resthaven Funeral Homes Abbey Chapel.

Lurdes died on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center. She was born on February 11, 1926 in Gause, Texas. She was the daughter of Domingo and Clara Garcia. She also had 9 brothers and sisters that she loved very much. She married Paul Lara on May 10, 1945 and they moved to Lubbock in the 1950’s to raise their family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul and son Paul, Jr.

Survivors include her sons Augustine and Johnny, daughters Elvira and Rosie, and granddaughter Amanda all of Lubbock.

Lurdes was a strong woman, strong in will and strong in faith. She lived by two simple values, give your all in all you do, and anything is possible if you have faith in God. She passed these values on to her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the people she loved as they continue to live by these same values.
