Luther graduated from Plainview High School in 1964 and then attended South Plains College in Levelland, Texas; West Texas State University in Canyon and South Tarrant Count Junior College in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the YMCA. Luther worked at L.R.V. Aerospace and Royal Business Forms both in Arlington for many years. After he returned to Lubbock he became assistant manager of the Handy Dan Building Hardware Store.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Those left to cherish his memory are his cousin, LaVina Young Shelton; friends, David Max Johnson, Leslie Hays, Ken and Donna Cartwright, Leroy Green and Vaughn James.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Plainview Memorial Park with Pastor Ray Christman, Leroy Green and Ken Cartwright officiating.
