Martha P. Hyde

“Marty” died May 26, 2013 at Carillon House where she had been under hospice care for several months. Born and raised in Greensboro, N.C., she graduated from Greensboro High School and earned a commercial course degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. While working for the Interocean insurance company in 1949 she married Julian H. Hyde. During the 27 years her husband was in the service, they lived in Canyon, TX, England, Warner Robbins, GA, France, Burkburnett, TX, Albuquerque N.M, and finally Lubbock, where she resided for the last 45 years.

Following her retirement in 1993 from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Texas A&M University system as administrative assistant to the resident director of research, she enjoyed line dancing and other activities with her “senior circle” friends. She enjoyed knitting for seneral charitable originations with the “R.S.V.P” group and designed and made ornaments for many years as a part of meals on wheels 12 days of Christmas program.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Ret. SMSGT Julian H. Hyde, Sons Julian Jr., and Phillip, parents Paul C. and Ina S. Pearson and beloved pets Prince Charming and Libby Girl. Survivors include her sister Beatrice Sands of Algonac, MI, nieces Martha Sands, Linda Heaton, Deborah Duchmann, Carol Webb, and Mary Kelly. Nephews Matthew Sands, Paul Sands, Michael Sands, Claude Andrews, Stephen Kelly, Shawn Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Dennis Kelly and Terry Kelly and special friend Joy Campbell.Condolences may be sent to Martha Sands, 2577 St. Clair River Drive Algonac, MI 48001.
