Martha Whitson, 77 passed away on January 29, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. Mrs. Whitson was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in El Paso, TX and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX. She loved line dancing where she participated in several groups that danced at Nursing Homes and on Cruises she also enjoyed traveling and gardening. Martha was an established painter in El Paso where she was recognized for her painting called “So Far From Home So Close To Hell” that presently is hanging in Ft. Bliss, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband T. J. and brother, Ray Santillan. She is survived by her son, Harvey Whitson and Mike Staponavich, sisters, Teresa Aynes of Abilene TX. and family, Inocencia Perez and husband Gregorio of El Paso, TX and their family, Elena Madrid and husband Carlos of Las Cruces, NM and their family, and her special long time childhood friend, Mercy Mesta of El Paso TX. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 1st, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with burial in Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
