Mary Ann (Becker) Naegele of Lubbock, Texas passed away unexpectedly on December 24th, 2021, at the age of 83. Mary Ann was born January 6, 1938, in Wheeling, WV to Ambrose and Agatha (Sherman) Becker. She was a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1955. On March 23, 1957, Mary Ann eloped with her long-time love and high school sweetheart, Donald Naegele. Following his tour with the Air Force, Don and newlywed Mary Ann lived in Wheeling, WV, Buffalo, NY, and Boston, MA, for Don’s medical school training before settling in Lubbock where they ultimately opened a private Ophthalmology practice that Mary Ann managed for over 20 years. In 1968 and 1973 respectively, Don and Mary Ann welcomed their most treasured gifts of two sons, Donald Francis, Jr. and Douglas Michael.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant brother, Michael. Those left to cherish her memories are her sister, Nora Truax and husband Dennis of Holden Beach, North Carolina; son, Donald Naegele of McKinney, TX; son, Doug Naegele and his wife, Prim of Lubbock, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Jewel, Jet and Jemma Naegele also of Lubbock as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Resthaven Chapel located at 5740 19th Street in Lubbock. The family will have visitation for friends and family on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 5:30-7:30 PM, also at Resthaven. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given to Mary Ann by the Callander House of Lubbock as well as Raider Ranch.
