Mary was born on September 4, 1931 in Richland Springs, Texas to Judge Alvie and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Rowell. In 1955, she married Emory Vernis Potts and together they raised three sons, Keith, Craig and Kent.
Mary was a tireless and exceptional homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She was known for her donut holes and especially her braided rolls that were ready for every family gathering. As the grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived she would always
say they had “sugar dripping”.
She loved the holidays and really any occasion that allowed her to visit with loved ones. Her love was infinite and unconditional. Mary was warm and welcoming and made everyone who met her feel special and loved. Mary was beautiful inside and out. She always had an easy laugh and a
twinkle in her eye, especially when she was dancing a jig in her kitchen while listening to country music. She enjoyed going to watch her sons play football and baseball. She would tell stories about playing basketball at New Deal High School. She loved talking with her sisters
and her brother.
Mary and Emory had many trips in their RV in their retirement. They would travel with Mary’s sister Gladys and her husband, Nick. Many camping and hunting trips were enjoyed.
There are not enough words to express the depth of our admiration and love for Mary. She was a blessing to all who knew her. She leaves behind many wonderful memories. She was a joy to know and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kent Potts; sisters, Loraine Mckown, Elsie Risenhoover, and Flora Lea Risenhoover.
She is survived by sons, Keith and wife, LeJae Potts, Craig and wife, Paula Potts; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Potts; grandchildren; Meredith (Doak) Blassingame, Katie, Rachel and Annalise Potts, Kassidy (David) Thomas, and Casey Potts, Shelby, Blane, Brycen Potts, and Tarah Graham; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, honorary grandchildren, lifelong friends, and cousins.
