

A graveside service, with burial to follow, will be conducted at Resthaven Funeral Memorial Park, 5470 W. 19th, in Lubbock on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Wayne Ivey, a nephew of Mrs. Tubbs and minister of Taylor Lake Christian Church in Seabrook, TX officiating. Monette (Meme) was born on September 21, 1919 in Hubbard, Texas, where she spent her youth and graduated from high school. On June 10, 1940, she married C H Tubbs, Jr. from Lubbock. In their early married years, Monette worked as a clerk at the U. S. Army Base in Del Rio, Texas while her husband served his country. Her oldest son, Jan Tubbs, was born during this time. Later she and C H moved back to Lubbock where she gave birth to a second son, Larry. For several years, she worked at John Halsey Drug and then as the bookkeeper at Tubbs Machine and Supply Company. Her last position was in the payroll department at Texas Tech University until she retired in 1985. In recent years, she first lived at Carillon and then was a resident of Carillon House at the time of her death.
Monette and her husband were charter members of Forest Heights Methodist Church in Lubbock. Monette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She particularly enjoyed living in Lubbock where she always welcomed family and friends and loved cooking for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sally Truly; her husband, C H Tubbs, Jr.; her brother, Lanham Truly; and her sister, Helen Poff.
Survivors include: her son, Jan Tubbs and his wife, Linda, of Austin; her son, Larry and his wife, Ann, of Denton; her brother, Ralph Truly of Eagle Lake; her sister, Frances Hillin of Midland (currently living in Houston); three grandchildren – Leslie Brunt and his husband, Will, of Smithfield, VA; Kari Jennings and her husband, Joel, of El Paso; and Paul Tubbs and his wife, Lindsey, of Lubbock; and five great-grandchildren – Samantha and Ryan Jennings of El Paso, Taylor and Jake Tubbs of Lubbock, and Liam Brunt of Smithfield, VA.
