Ola Mae Christopher

On October 7, 1935, she married Robert Lloyd Christopher in Italy, Texas. They were happily married for 72 years until he preceded her in death. She helped Lloyd farm in Lynn County near Wilson for 43 years. Upon retirement from farming, they moved to Lubbock. She loved cooking for her family and providing for their needs. She had to keep her hands busy, so in her final years, she crocheted every child and grandchild at least one afghan.

Left to cherish their mother’s memory: Mary Ann Roe of Lubbock, Robert Ollie Christopher of Lubbock, Curtis Randal Christopher of Ingram, Mae Elizabeth Williams of Euless, Evelyn Elaine Traugott of Bedford, Kathryn Jane Barta of Los Angeles, California, and Marilyn Frances Rodriguez of Sundown.

Blessed by a loving Nannie are 20 grandchildren: Barbara Ann Roe of Midland, Robert Alan Christopher and Kellie of Lubbock, Curtis Randal Christopher, Jr. and Connie of McKinney, Sandra Deann Garcia of Lubbock, Angela Carol Lopez and Herman of Lubbock, Kendra Kay Sellers and Derek of Seagraves, Royce Christopher Bishop and Pam of Irving, Paul Howard Bishop and Misty of South Lake, Amy Suzanne Garner and Norm of Ft. Worth, Michael Shane Yocom of Plano, Matthew Devin Yocom of Dallas, Jenifer Deann Garlett and Ray of Lubbock, Merri Elizabeth Brown and Steve of Grand Prairie, Adam Paul Rodriguez and Cynthia of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Ruth Kathryn Martinez and Jose of San Diego, California, Mandi Lynn Gonzalez and Jimmy of Sundown, Betsy Ellen Strauss and Jason of Euless, Sally Elizabeth Loose and Tim of Alahambra, California, and Timothy David Barta of Oakland, California. In addition she is survived by 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Wilson, with Gil Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Green Memorial Park in Wilson. The family requests contributions to be made to Green Memorial Cemetery, PO Box 179, Wilson, TX 79381 or The American Heart Association.
