Grace Henderson, lovingly known as “Nana” to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 81. A longtime resident of Smyer, Texas, Grace lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and deep love for her family.
Grace was born on September 29, 1944, in Whitewright, Texas, to Flossie and Freeman Page. She grew up working in the cotton fields, learning the value of resilience, grit, and determination at a young age. Those early lessons shaped the strong and steadfast woman so many admired throughout her life.
Over the years, Grace worked as a waitress at the Hi-D-Ho, where her warm smile and spirited personality made her a favorite among many. She later became a caregiver for the elderly, a role that reflected her nurturing heart and natural compassion. Caring for others wasn’t just work for Grace — it was who she was.
Above all else, Grace treasured her family. She was a proud and devoted mother to Bill Henderson(Janell), Paul Henderson(Cara), and Dianne Springer(James). Her greatest joy came from being “Nana,” a title she carried with pride and love — not only to her own family, but to nearly everyone she met.
She leaves behind a large and loving family including her grandchildren: Ben Brown, Abi Henderson, Charity Crawford(Jerry), Allen Henderson(Samantha), Sharmai Haddock(Koby), Ashley Caswell, Rebekah Thompson(Juan Peña), Laura Henderson(Carli), and Skyelar Springer; along with 21 cherished great-grandchildren and 2 beloved great-great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Flossie and Freeman Page; her beloved husbands, Coy Caswell and Bill Henderson; her great-granddaughter, Dustee Grace; and her siblings Charles Page, Tommy Page, Billy Page, Joe Page, Amanda Henderson, Alice Peterson, and Lula Wheeler.
Grace will be remembered for her loving heart, her strength, and her unmistakable personality — loving with just a little bit of spice. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially bingo nights and scratch-off tickets, and she never missed an opportunity to share laughter, stories, or a little sass with those she loved.
Her legacy lives on through the generations she raised, the lives she cared for, and the family she held so close to her heart.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
