

Patsy O’Briant Patterson, a beloved daughter, mother, and friend, transitioned to the arms of Jesus on September 4, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on November 5, 1937, in Roby, Texas, to A.A. and Elizabeth O’Briant, the youngest of eight children. She was a faithful Christian and was a member at the Monterey Church of Christ; Hale Center Church of Christ and Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview. As a teenager, she was a charter member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock.
Patsy graduated from Cooper High School, and married her high school sweetheart Donald Patterson. Donald passed away in 2005, three months before their 50th anniversary. She was married to Robert Lytle from 2012 until his death in 2022. As a devoted mother, she raised her children with Christian values, instilling in them the importance of perseverance, hard work and the value of an education. She was immensely proud of her family, telling anyone who would listen about the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In her professional life, Patsy thrived in the retail industry and she became a division manager at the Sears stores in Plainview and Lubbock. Following retirement, she served as a teacher’s aide then substitute teacher for Roosevelt and Hale Center Schools. She was a dedicated coach for Weight Watchers International for over two decades. She always encouraged others to look and feel their best.
Patsy is survived by her children: Dr. Patti Patterson Joiner and husband Michael of Lubbock, Gary and Cindy Patterson of Hale Center, and Brian and Jeannie Patterson of Snyder. Grandchildren: Clint and Laura Patterson (Jay, Eli and Lizzie) of Hale Center; Leesa and Danny Echols (Claire and Hannah) of Austin; Dan and Julee Patterson (Lucas, Maggie and Olivia) of Plainview; Landon Kitten of Midland, and Ashley Barker of Lubbock.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and husbands Donald Patterson and Robert Lytle.
A celebration of her life will be held on September 8, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel, where friends and family will gather to honor her beautiful spirit. Prior to the celebration, a graveside service will take place at Hale Center Cemetery at 10:00 AM, where she will be laid to rest.
