Patty Ann West

Patty Passed away June 1 from complications of M.S. She was born August 30, 1953 to Bill and Myrl Gorey in McHenry, Illinois. As a child they moved to Lubbock, TX where she grew up helping the family business. She graduated from Monterey High School. In 1971 she met Larry West. They were married April 8, 1972 in Lubbock, Texas. They just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. To this union came two wonderful children, Patrick West and Tara West Allen. Diagnosed with M.S. in August 1991, she fought everyday against this horrible disease. Although confined to a wheel chair and later a bed she never gave up her fight. She was still the family leader to us all. The Cubs, Vikings, and Texas Rangers lost a great fan today.

She was preceded in death by her mother Myrl and her beloved younger sister Kara, and her son-in-law Matt.

She is survived by her husband Larry; son, Patrick and wife Jennifer; daughter, Tara; sisters, Nancy (Wayne) and Margie. She is also survived by the two most precious things in her life, her grandchildren, James and Avalee West; sister-in-laws Peggy and Nelda; Nieces and Nephews, especially Shawn McClain.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Resthaven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 in the Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
