

.A Rosary for Paul Garcia, 65, of Lubbock, formerly of Dimmitt, will be at 7 pm on Thursday, April 19th in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with a vigil to follow. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 pm on Friday, April 20th, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Mr. Garcia passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence in Lubbock.
Paul was born on October 15, 1946 in Bay City, TX and raised by his parents Rey and Tila Salinas Garcia. He graduated from Weslaco High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University and MBA from Wayland Baptist University. Paul married Ortensia Rueda on June 26, 1971 in Dimmitt, Texas.
He worked as an engineer at the Dimmitt corn processing plant for 33 years. His second career began in 2005 as a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Plainview. He became an ordained deacon in the Amarillo Diocese in 2006. He was a member and served as a deacon at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Garcia in 2010.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Priscilla and husband Luis Rivas and Michelle and husband Jason Villegas, all of Lubbock, Amy and husband Kevin Smith of Dallas; one son, Gabriel and wife Michelle of Lubbock; one brother, Rey Garcia of Dimmitt; two sisters, Esther Martinez and Janie Esquivel both of San Marcos; seven grandchildren, Devon, Jason, Hannah, Lauren, Caden, Olivia, and Ella.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the special prayers and support shown by family and friends over the past few months.
