

Graveside services for Philip David Hyde, 56, of Lubbock, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. He passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, August 19th.
Philip was born on March 21, 1954 in Arrington, Cambridgeshire, England to SMSgt Julian H. Hyde, Sr. and Martha Pearson Hyde. As the son of a career Air Force father, he lived his early years in: England, Warner Robins, GA, Chateauroux, France, Burkburnett, TX, Albuquerque, NM, and Lubbock. He graduated from Lubbock High School and earned an Associate Degree from South Plains College. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.
For the past 15 years, Philip was employed at United Supermarket’s 50th & Q location, where he enjoyed the friendship of many co-workers and customers with whom he could share his vast knowledge and love for science fiction books and movies. He was an avid reader, music and animal lover; especially dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Julian H. Hyde, Sr.; his brother, Julian H. “Kip” Hyde, Jr.; grandparents Paul C. and Ina Pearson of Greensboro, NC, and Joseph Leonard Hyde, of Tarboro, NC, and George and Thelma Hyde Hagadorn, of Rahway, NJ.
Survivors include his mother, Martha; aunts Beatrice Sands and Evelyn Pearson; cousins, Martha, Matthew, Paul, and Michael Sands, Linda Heaton, Deborah Duchmann, Carol Webb, Claude Andrews, Stephen, Mary Lee, Shawn, Kevin, Dennis and Terry Kelley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Haven Animal Care shelter, 4501 N. CR 1729, Lubbock, 79403, or Meals-on-Wheels, 2304 34th St. Lubbock, 79412.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
