Richard Eugene Swain went to be with our heavenly father Friday May 6, 2022. He passed away at his residence in Karnack, Texas. Richard was born December 1, 1953 to the late Bob Swain and Geraldine Stach in Midland Texas. He was raised in West Texas later moving to Lovington NM where he graduated high school and met the late Janice Waechter. In 1976 Richard and Janice moved to Odessa Texas where they married and started a family.
Throughout the years Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with the family. Some of our fondest memories were made camping at Oak Creek. He was known for his work ethic and his love for the oilfield. He retired from Lantern Drilling Company in 2018 as a Drilling Superintendent.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Bob Swain and Gerladine Stach, brother Mark Smith, former wife and cherished friend Janice Swain.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons John Swain of Bastrop, TX. Sam Swain and wife Kassaundra of Burleson, TX. Brother JB Swain of Mabank, TX. Nephew Greg Swain of Kemp, TX. Grandchildren Ashton, Tyler, Byron and Aubrey of Bastrop, TX. Kami, Kason and Fynlee of Burleson, TX.
A celebration of life for Richard will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Resthavens' Abbey Chapel, 5740 19th St., Lubbock, Texas. with Rev. Bill Titus officiating. Followed by an inurnment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com for the Swain family.
