Robert Lee Long, Jr., a follower of Jesus and a proud Vietnam Veteran, passed away on Wednesday, November 26th 2025 at the age of 75. Robert was born in Brownwood, Texas on January 3, 1950 to Robert Long Sr. and Ann Long. Born with a determined spirit, Robert entered the US Army at just 17 years old, serving with honor and courage, bravely completing two tours in Vietnam.
A master of all trades, he worked in various occupations—including as a High Lineman and a truck driver—roles that reflected his work ethic, grit, and versatility. Robert was a road hand in building the Texas 289 Loop in Lubbock alongside his father, Robert, Sr. No matter the job, he precisely approached it with cheetah like reflexes and he carried a gift of knowledge like no other.
Above all else, Robert loved God, and he loved his family. He was a devoted father whose heart was never fuller than when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering them on through every high and low.
Robert is survived by his children, Misty (Al) Sheets, Nick (Melissa) Long, Brittany Long, and Chris (Jennifer) Fields, and by his grandchildren, Ethan, Eris, Noah, Mia, Brandon, Maddi, Cody, Kayden and Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty (Jarrell) Carroll and Annette Parsley.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Austen Long; his parents, Robert Long Sr. and Ann Long; and his siblings, Don, Fred, Bobby, Larry (infant) and Ruby. He is also preceded in death by his former wife, Jacqueline Long, who remained a cherished part of his heart.
Robert will be remembered for his courage, faith and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family of Robert Long Jr. will host a time of fellowship on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his Robert’s life will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 8, 2025, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens.
