Roger Franklin Pamperin was born to Franklin and Ida Pamperin on July 16, 1943, near Madison, South Dakota. Growing up he played piano and sang, and with his love of music then pursued a degree in music and education. He met his lifelong love, Janice, in college when she did the makeup for a musical in which he was one of the leads. They married in 1966, then finished school and graduated together.
After graduation they moved to Elgin, Nebraska, where Roger served as both the Principal and music teacher at the local high school. While there, he also played poker, raised cattle, and learned to fly small planes.
Roger and Janice moved to Lubbock, Texas, for Roger’s new career as sales representative for Jostens, selling class rings and yearbooks to high school students across the South Plains. He and Janice started JP’s Fundwear in the early 1980’s, a screen printing and embroidery company primarily serving the education and non-profit communities, and together grew that into a successful business that continues to this day.
Though his career took a different turn, Roger never lost his love for music, and led the choir at Christ Lutheran Church for 40 years, joyously celebrating and sharing his faith with others.
Roger was the proud father of three children, Francile (Bob), Brian (Shanna), and Daniel (Bert), and five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janice, his children, grandchildren, his brother, Virgil, and his sister, Verda Pape.
