Roland Moore Hurt

Private graveside services for Roland Moore Hurt, 93, will be held Thursday June 5, 2014, at 11am at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Rev. Baron Eliason officiating. He died Monday, June 2. Roland was born October 23, 1920 to Frank and Fleta Belle Hurt in Paris, TN. He graduated from high school in Post, TX in 1939 and attended Trinity University in Lexington, KY. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corp.

Roland married Willena Wilkinson March 1, 1947. The were married 65 years and had three sons, Stephen Moore, Stanley Roland and Gary Don. Roland was employed by Hemphill Wells from 1951 to 1985. He was a member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church.

Survivors are son, Steve and wife Debbie of Lubbock, son Stan and wife Jane , of Beaufort, South Carolina; five granddaugters, Heather and husband Eric McDonald and Bethany Hurt of Lubbock, Haley and husband Daniel Wagstaff of Dallas, Ashley and husband Greg Callen and Hope and husband Steve Wheeler of Arling ton, Virginia; seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Willena, son Gary, brothers Roger and James Hurt and sister Marguerite Stotts. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4 from 6 to 7:30 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
