Aunt Ruby to some, "Pawpaw" to my children.... since she always came to visit with Grandma Winnie my children decided that she, naturally, was Pawpaw... and we sure loved her!

Sweet Ruby Nichols was such a sweet lady and one of our most precious residents here at Whisperwood Nursing and Rehabilitation. She brought a smile to the lives of many here every day. She will be greatly missed. You are a very blessed family to have had the opportunity to love her!

Ah,Aunt Ruby! You were awesome and always good for a big hug anytime I wanted one. When I was 17 and had just graduated from high school you took me in for a month and put up with me for a whole month. Watching you work your budget to send Rita home with me (to Tucson) really made an impression on me. It was always nice and fun and sweet, over the years, to cuddle up on the bed or couch with you and you gave such wise advice. I'm so glad you and Mama are together. When I sang my song at Mama's service I didn't realize when I sang "where loved ones gathered around her to take her to their kingdom home," that I was singing about you too. I have so many fond memories of you and will miss you the most of all my aunts. I love you still. Hug my twin Rickey for me.

My sweet Aunt Ruby! How amazingly it was that she chose the time that her sister's memorial service was happening to join her! We shared the same birthday and she ways made me feel special about it! I remember going and staying at her house for the reunions. She always made me feel at home and went out of her way to let me know that i was loved. She met my husband and it was an instant love! How blessed were we? I will always love and miss her! I wish I could be there for her services!

Dear Family, 

Our prayers are with you in this time of loss and grief. 

Aunt Ruby was indeed a very special lady. Paulett and I were happy to have had the opportunity to visit with her four or five years ago when she & Virginia visited in our home in La Grange, TX. Aunt Ruby shared memories with us about what it was like living through the “dust bowl” days. She talked about her family having to take their Sunday dinner plates outside to sit in the car to keep the dust from getting into their food. She reminded us that cars, even in those days, were dust-tight, but houses were not. I remember her strength, her warmth and her sense of humor most of all.    

My mother, Madge Nichols Renfro, had a special fondness for her sister-in-law, Ruby. I think Aunt Ruby felt a special affection for her as well. I know they had a lot in common; including the fact that they both raised some very good kids under challenging conditions.

I wish we could be there with you at tomorrows memorial service. I know you will be blessed and comforted by Carson's words.

Dear Family,  We were at Mama's service when we heard of Aunt Ruby's passing.  Aunt Ruby was a wonderful woman and we all loved her.  She touched our lives in such a positive way.  We will miss her so much but know she is in heaven with loved ones.  God be with you and all the family during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I was wondering if this was the Ruby Nichols who taught school at McAdoo during the War when I attended school there in 5th and 6th Grades?

Just want to tell all of Rubys family it was such an honor & privilege to take care of her. She brought a lot of happiness & joy to the whisperwood family. We will miss her greatly. Sending  lots of prayers for the good Lord to comfort her family during this time. Sincerely Evelyn Mitchell RN

My sincerest condolences to the family of Ruby.  I met Ruby many years ago for the first time in Tucson, Arizona when she was out for a visit with her sister, Janie Henley, and she was making my sister, Judy McConathy Henley's, wedding gown.  Ruby was a delight to know and she made such an impression on me with her love, caring and sense of humor.  She and Janie traveled to my hometown of Deming, NM, where she helped me with the making of my bridesmaid dress for the wedding.  An amusing moment came when she told me she had a son named Bridges and I told her I had met a man by the name of Bridges at my aunt and uncles home in Farmington, NM, and it turned out it was her first husband and her son's father.  I will never forget how shocked we both were, but she enjoyed me remembering him as being a bragging person and flaunting his diamond rings.  "Yep, that was definitely him, she said!"  

I was attending her sister, Janie's, memorial service when I learned of Ruby's passing.  How unique that she made her transistion to join her family in heaven at the same time as Janie's services.  I am sure there is a lot of rejoicing, as another has joined them.  God Bless you.
