Mom/Mema is singing in the Heavenly Choir today. Left behind to miss her sweet spirit and loving smile are her six children: Ella Ann and husband Steve, Les and wife Jackie, Nancy and husband Jim, Clint and wife Carol, Debbie and Chuck, Greg and wife Kellie. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren, her brother, Stanley Coble, and sister, Fanny Jo Haynes.
Elaine was born in Poteet, Texas on November 9, 1928. She met the love of her life, Calvin Hill, at the age of 13 and married him on February 8, 1946 at the age of 17. They were married 47 years until his death in 1993.
Elaine and Calvin owned and operated Hill Fence Company from 1954 until they retired in 1991. Elaine also was Librarian for Exodus Prison Ministry for many years.
Elaine loved music, singing and playing the piano. She taught children’s choir at Highland Baptist Church for 25 years. She was a member and treasurer of the Singing Women of West Texas for 17 years. There was always a song on her lips, including the day she went to sing in Heaven. Elaine left a legacy of love with a family she taught to love the Lord, and a sweet, constant faithful spirit that reflected Jesus in her. There are many who would say they are Christians because of her witness and prayers.
