Sebern Denson Diver was born January 8, 1933 in Cameron, Texas to John and Zelma Diver. At the age of 15 he quit school and joined his father picking cotton to help make a living for the family.
Due to being raised with pride and courage to work hard and do the best you could do to provide for your family, this became his work ethic for the rest of his life, never letting the sun set on a job unfinished.
On April 26, 1951 he left Milano, Texas and joined the Navy during the Korean Conflict serving our country aboard the USS Ozbourn (DD-846) based out of San Diego, California, receiving the Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America on the 14th day of April 1955.
Moving to West Texas in the sixties, S.D. and his former wife Dorothy formed the company known to so many as S.D. Divers Mobile Home Movers. S.D., Transported homes for over 40 years, which involved factory dealers, new home owners, and families needing to relocate their homes, along with dealing with park owners and managers. The company started with a Ford pickup he converted to pull the older homes of the sixties and early seventies, to a fleet of eleven transport trucks. Always going back to his roots, he provided jobs to his brothers, nephews and many others. Through the years working in the business, they made many friends and cherished the relationship to them all. They retired in 2004 with integrity, pride, and known as the most honest dependable movers in our area, leaving a name and legacy most will never accomplish.
A special thanks goes out to a guest that was invited in our home Thanksgiving in 2011. A great bond between Rex Gaskin from Shallowater and S.D. was formed. In his darkest days he wanted Rex on several occasions to come pray for and with him and his family. Rex always accommodated his wishes day or night.
To Rick Pledger, he wanted you to know he loved you like another son, and to stay off those Hogs.
To Lewis and Deborah, thanks for the great fellowship, singing, food, and all the friends that meet just to get together and enjoy life with each other like neighbors used to. Lewis, he requested the next time you sing Troubadour to think of him, remembering he was the Troubadour and now “He’s Gone.” So long good buddy!!!! Retired Sheriff of The Red Dog.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Zelma Diver, former wife Dorothy, and granddaughter Eron Garrett from San Angelo, Texas who died of Cystic Fibrosis in 2008 at the age of 24.
