

Sandra (Boyd) Baker of Lubbock went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 25, 2025. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6th, from 4-6pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 7th, at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Jim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Sandra Ann was born September 21, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas to the late Sidney Owen Boyd and Eva Lee Goodwin Boyd. She graduated with the first graduating class of Monterey High School in 1956. She married Jerry D. Baker on July 19, 1958 in Lubbock. They moved to Kansas City in 1960 and later returned to Lubbock in 1965. Sandra was in the radio industry in Kansas City and Lubbock until her family came along. She raised her two boys, Jeff and Greg, and eventually went to work for the City of Lubbock in 1980. She was employed at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center/Auditorium Coliseum for eighteen years, becoming the Events Coordinator and booking manager in 1990. After retirement in 1998 Sandra joined the University Medical Center’s auxiliary and served as president of the auxiliary board and in several other capacities. She also served on the Lubbock Parks and Recreation board and was a member of the City of Lubbock Retirement Association. She was active in her son’s school activities and served as president of the Atkins PTA. Sandra was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Sandra’s greatest joy on this earth was spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching them participate in their many activities. She loved the Lord with all her might and always felt he was by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Baker, her parents Sidney Owen and Eva Lee Boyd, her sister, Betty Laxson of Crossroads, Texas, cousin Donald Boyd of Lubbock and niece Marilyn Clark of Denison, Texas. She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey D. Baker and wife Mary Kay of Lubbock; Gregory A. Baker and wife Kimberly of Broomfield, Colorado; four grandchildren, Hope Baker and Jacob Baker of Lubbock, Grantley Baker and Abigail Baker of Broomfield, Colorado. She is also survived by nieces and nephews in the Dallas area.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandra’s name can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or your favorite charity.
