

Sarah was born on Easter Sunday April 13th, 1941 to Rena and Colin Carey in Westbrook, Texas. The family settled later in the Sandhill Community and she graduated from Floydada High School in 1959.
She went on to attend West Texas State College in Canyon and later graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Texas Tech University.
She married her husband, Donald Vaughan in 1960 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. They began their marriage in Lubbock and after moving to various locations for Don's career they settled again in Lubbock in 1968 where they lived until her passing.
She dedicated her life to being a homemaker to Don and her children. She loved her friends which were like family to her. She enjoyed book club and a hobby club that she was part of with dear friends with many years. She was an avid reader and loved literature, music and dance/theater arts.
She attended Bacon Heights Baptist church in Lubbock and was a faithful follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She made many wonderful friends through fellowship with those in her church and Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five older siblings.
Left to mourn her memory are her husband Donald and her children Donald Vaughan Jr. (Tina) of Amarillo, Keith (Martina) of Laredo and Cathy (Dan) of Lubbock. She had seven grandchildren who she loved deeply.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for 6PM to 8PM Thursday March 26th at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers and Celebration of Life will be held Friday March 27th at 2 PM at Bacon Heights Baptist, followed immediately by burial at Peaceful Gardens. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of The Plaza at Lubbock for their professional and loving care they provided Sarah.
