

Teresia Simpson, a compassionate mentor and devoted community advocate, passed away peacefully in Lubbock, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of empowerment and hope for her family. Born Teresia Lynn Winegar in Ralls in 1943, the oldest daughter of five siblings, she dedicated her life to serving others both family and professionally.
Her rewarding career included roles such as office manager for Dr. Richard Wright’s medical practice and later office manager at the Walker/Soloman/Huffaker Firm, both located in Tahoka, Texas. If you were from Tahoka, you likely knew Teresia.
She passionately believed that a person’s past should not dictate their future, and through her unwavering dedication, she inspired many to embrace second chances. Teresia’s influence extended beyond her professional achievements and her kindness and empathy positively affected countless lives. She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family and friends.
Teresia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Austin Simpson of Lubbock; her two devoted sons and two daughters in law, Bryan Simpson (Catharine) of Thornton, Colorado, and Shannon Simpson (Kim) of Lubbock; and four beloved grandchildren: Blake Simpson, Brittin Simpson, Brook’lynn Lewis, all of Lubbock, and Nicholas Simpson of Thornton, Colorado. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Kaiya Simpson, Addison Simpson, Graysen Simpson, Axel Lewis, and Austin Simpson, all of Lubbock.
Teresia is preceded in death by her brother Travis Winegar, and sister, Barbara Shobert, formally from Lubbock. Teresia is also survived by two brothers, Kenneith Winegar of Levelland and Richard Winegar of Leander, Texas.
The impact Teresia Simpson made on her community and those around her will endure for generations. Her legacy of compassion, resilience, and faith in transformation continues to inspire everyone who knew her.
