Terry was born January 30, 1946, at the Orlando Army Air Base Hospital in Florida. Her parents were Army First Lieutenant Loyd Leonard and Lee Madeleine Turner (Barr). Terry was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Julius Roth, Army Medical Corps, at a total cost of eight dollars.
Terry lived in San Diego, California, until September 1948, when her father, having completed his Army service, took a job with Consolidated-Vultee’s Fort Worth Division, and her parents moved into a duplex in Fort Worth, Texas. Their next-door neighbors were the Mills, Ray, Dorcas, and their sons Larry and Danny.
Terry began her education in kindergarten at South Hi-Mount Elementary School, then Stripling Junior High School, and Paschal High School, where she graduated cum laude.
Terry married Jerry Hollis on May 14, 1964. Their son Guy Allan Hollis was born on September 7, 1966. Terry and Jerry were divorced on September 4, 1969.
For many years Terry owned and operated the legendary Shotgun Willie’s Café in Red River, New Mexico, which was a favorite of both the locals and the tourists. In September 1998 she sold the restaurant.
In June 1999 her father and mother both became seriously ill in Fort Worth, so she moved there for several months to take care of them.
In 2001 Terry decided to move to Lubbock, Texas, where her brother Loyd lived and operated four restaurants.
Terry’s survivors include her son, Guy Allan Hollis and his girlfriend Teena Le of Garland, Texas; grandchildren Hunter Allan Hollis and Heather Lee Hollis, of Garland, Texas; her brother Loyd Lee “Burrhead” Turner and his wife Karen of Lubbock, Texas; nephew Travis Daniel Turner and his fiancé Demeri Jo Cobb of Lubbock, Texas; niece Christen Kaye Felts and her husband Jason of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and cousin Lalae Battista of Alpine, Texas.
