Thomas "TJ" Stevens

Thomas James “TJ” Stevens, 86, passed away Wednesday May 1, 2013 in Levelland, Texas. He was born September 21, 1926 in Goldthwaite to Tom Alexander and Lois Alberta Reynolds Stevens. TJ married Annie Sue Clanton on September 30, 1943 in Winter, Texas. In February of 1944 he joined the US Navy and served until January of 1946. After the war he farmed all of his adult life near the communities of Spade, Dimmit, Plainview and Morton. TJ was very detailed oriented as evidenced by a spiral note pad always in his pocket. He was a good listener and enjoyed sitting listening to the children. He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends “at his house’ with plenty of food, singing and playing games.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Carr and Karen Williams and sons Jim and Mike Stevens; grandchildren, Mandy Johnson, Clay Carr, Jay Carr, Joylene Tompkins, Tim Williams and Tom Williams; 2 sisters, Veonah Jez and Alexandra Stevens one brother, Alvis Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and son Allen Stevens and brother Ed Stevens.

Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday May 4 at 1pm in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
