

Celebration of life services for Tommy Scott Hawkins, 86, of Lubbock, Texas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 30, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas. A graveside interment will follow. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Scott Hawkins and Armie Love (Toombs) Hawkins, and his brother, Robert Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lavelle Benham Hawkins, two daughters, Diane Glumpler (Robert) of Littlefield, Texas and Leslie Garcia (Gil) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, six grandchildren, Benjamin Reinhardt of San Antonio, Texas, Thomas Reinhardt (Stephanie) of San Antonio, Texas, Morgan Lavin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marguerite Latterner (Jacob) of Houston, Texas, Evan Lavin (Alicia) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Pilar Garcia of Albuquerque New Mexico, two great granddaughters, Daphne and Melody Latterner of Houston, Texas and two sisters, Marilyn Stockert of Beaumont, Texas and Linda Griffith of Ft. Worth, Texas, four nephews, a niece and numerous cousins.
Tommy was born on January 4, 1939, in Lubbock, Texas to Jessie Scott Hawkins and Armie Love (Toombs) Hawkins. He was raised in Morton, Texas, graduating from Morton High School in 1957. He had a great love of books and reading from an early age. He played golf, baseball and played the trumpet in the high school band. He excelled in scouting, achieving the Eagle Scout badge and Order of the Arrow.
He attended Texas Tech University and graduated with his degree in Finance/Accounting.
He spent the early part of his career in Morton, Texas, working for the family-owned car dealership, raising his daughters, and being involved in the community and the First Methodist Church. A change of career to accounting, he acquired his C.P.A and a partnership at James Teague and Company in Lubbock, Texas.
He continued to raise his family in Lubbock, and was active in many clubs, Toastmasters, South Plains Lions Club, Boy Scout Troop 157 and the Texas Tech Alumni Association. A lifetime golfer, he was a member of the Lubbock Country club.
Aside from being an avid golfer, he had many varied interests and hobbies. He loved the great outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing and travel. He and LaVelle traveled to 50 states including Canada and Hawaii. He also acquired a small aircraft pilot license. He enjoyed attending or watching Texas Tech sports events, golf games and always had a good book to read. He loved spending time with his family, and especially in his retirement years being a wonderful grandfather, making many cherished memories with his grandchildren.
