

Tommy graduated from Chico High School in 1948, at the age of 16; then attended North Texas College where he received a Business degree with honors.
He loved his country and joined the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After completing his service he took his degree of business and taught in the education field at Springlake-Earth schools from 1953-1955, but his love and dedication was given to Lubbock High School. He taught until retirement in 1992. During his years teaching he was given the task to manage the Teachers Credit Union until 2001.
Tommy enjoyed fishing, but his love was bowling where he competed in the American Bowling Congress and was treasurer for the Texas Bowling Association for a period of time. He volunteered and served with the Friends of the Library.
Tommy’s greatest love went to his family and loved his great-grandkids. He was an active member of the Southside Church of Christ, and loved his Church family.
He was selected to go on the 2019 Honors Flight, it made a great impact knowing his service to his country was important.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil S. Largent, mother Mary Lumsden ( Jerry); and is survived by his children: Dawn Williams (Roger), Carrie Barden, Jill Barnard (Vincent); grandchildren: Corey Williams (Brianne), Dan Williams (Lydia), Matthew Williams, Cambell Williams, Maddie Williams, Abby Williams; nieces and families: Cathy Fostel , son Justin Cortez of Bridgeport TX, daughter Meagan Hood, husband A.J. and 2 daughters of Decatur TX; Suzanne Gardner and husband Bill, daughter Emily Romkema and husband Brett, their 2 sons of Springfield, South Dakota, son Chris Gardner, wife Deanne and their 3 sons and daughter of Conway, Arkansas.
Tommy will be greatly missed by many. The family will be receiving guests on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Resthaven Funeral home, 5740 W 19th Street. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10am.
