Tonya shared over 40 years together with the love of her life, Shannon Patton. Starting their relationship in middle school, they reconnected in the late 80s and married on May 23, 1992. Together, they raised two children—Makenzie and Mason Patton.
Tonya lived with creativity, ambition, and a vibrant spirit that inspired everyone she met. She brought warmth, energy, and imagination to every aspect of her life, from her extraordinary cooking to her eye for design and fashion. As the "hostess with the mostest," Tonya created unforgettable celebrations, always making each individual feel special. Her ambition pushed her to pursue new ideas and projects, while her creative touch left a lasting impression. Above all, Tonya’s presence made the world brighter, and her unique spark will be deeply missed.
Tonya’s drive and ambition were matched only by her compassion. As Juvenile Case Manager of Lubbock, she founded the Diversion Program, giving countless young people a second chance. Tonya’s dedication to helping others went hand in hand with her visionary ideas and her ability to make a difference wherever she worked. At Wee Care, she was known as "Conga," a name spoken with affection by the many children whose lives she touched. Her creative solutions, ambitious spirit, and caring heart shaped her legacy in ways that will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Shannon Patton; her children, Makenzie and Mason Patton; her father, Melvin Lowrey; and her siblings, Tracy Lowrey and Kevin Lowrey. She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Lowrey, and her grandparents.
She lovingly embraced many “bonus” children throughout her life, offering guidance, shelter, and unconditional love.
This world lost the brightest light, and her impact will never be forgotten. Her legacy will live on through all the lives she touched while here on this earth and will continue long after we are gone.
The family will gather on Tuesday, January 27th, at Lake Ridge Chapel in Lubbock, TX, from 5 - 7 PM. A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Plains in Plains, TX, at 2 PM and internment to follow at Plains Cemetery.
