

Troy graduated from Morton High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Wayland Baptist College. He was in the Army during the Korean War, during this time he spent one year as a prisoner of war. After his discharge from the Army he married Ruby F. Whitehorn on December 20, 1952.
Troy worked in Law Enforcement in various area towns before finishing out his career of 27 ½ years with the Lubbock Police Department.
He was a Charter member of the Lubbock Law Enforcement Lions Club.
Troy is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Olin Coon, and a sister Mary Ruth Arthur.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruby, and his children, Ruby Brackett (David), Ronnie Coon (Annette), Debbie Free (Randy), and Troy Coon (Susan). Eight grandchildren: Brian and Jared Brackett, Lubbock; Ricky Hoffman, Lodi, Ca.; Andrea De Los Santos (Dustin), Tomball; Brittany Prince (Jeff), New York; Adam Coon, Lubbock; Jake Martin, Denton; and Kennedy Coon, Plainview. Plus 1 great-granddaughter, Layla of Tomball.
