

Verdell Mayhugh was born on September 5. 1926, in a farmhouse near Hollis, Oklahoma. He left this earth to be with our Lord on June 4, 2014. Verdell graduated high school in Dobson, Texas and completed one year of college before joining the navy during WWII, where he was a radioman in Pearl Harbor from 1945 through 1946.
Verdell married Daisy Ruth Gregory while on leave on April 17, 1945, Verdell and Ruth moved from farming in the Hollis area to Oklahoma City where he worked as a milk deliveryman before going to work for Sunshine Biscuits Company. The family moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1972. He retired at age 61 in 1987 after 34 years of service with Sunshine Biscuits.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JC & Alice Mayhugh, one sister, Jalene Davis, his wife Ruth Gregory and second wife Bernadine Bollinger. He is survived by one brother, Athan Mayhugh, two children, Greg Mayhugh and Laura Sageser, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren (hopefully more to come).
A visitation with the family in celebration of his life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock Saturday June 7, 2014 from 2:00pm until 6:00 pm.
Interment of his ashes will be at the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis, Oklahoma at a later date.
