Join our family and friends to celebrate the life of Paul Faulkner, Jr. at Resthaven Abbey Chapel on Friday, February 9th, at 4:00 pm. Paul (Woody) entered this world on March 13, 1931 in Shiner, TX. After nearly 87 years of living in Lubbock, he passed away on February 5, 2018.
He was one of the very first students to attend the newly opened Roscoe Wilson Elementary school. After graduation from Lubbock High, he attended Texas Tech and SMU. At SMU, Paul’s life was forever changed when he met Fritzie, a beautiful girl from New Orleans. Before completing college, he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War. He proposed to Fritzie and was off to the Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1952, they were married in New Orleans and returned to Lubbock to start a life together that lasted over 65 years.
Paul ran the family’s cold storage and ice business and Fritzie was a stay at home mom for Paul III (Little Paul), Julia, Keith, and Max. Paul had several occupations in Lubbock including Frontier Stamps, The Toy Box, S&J Oyster Bar, and Venetian Marble until his retirement in 1993. He was very proud of and interested in activities of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He loved cookouts, going to restaurants, reading the A-J every day, checking for coupons and bargains, and watching current events on TV.
His legacy of wisdom, kindness, humor, generosity and grace will continue on in the lives of his survivors. His wife Fritzie; son Paul (Vicki), daughter Julia Kerr (Mike); son Keith, and son Max (Helena); grandkids Max Kerr (Jeannie), Lindsay Kerr, Jonathan Faulkner (Lindsay), Amanda Faulkner (Thea) and Katherine Faulkner; great-grandkids Atlee, Blaire, and Parker Faulkner and Kiran and Korey Grace Kerr and Nikaya Kerr. These were his pride and joy and a reason for living.
A special thank you to Dr. Chanda Dihenia, Dr. Drew Payne, and the staff and nurses at UMC for their compassion and excellent care.
After the service please join us for a come and go reception at 5309 26th. The family suggests memorials to Lubbock meals on Wheels.
