

William (Bill) Earl Hewett, 88 of Lubbock, passed away May 20th, 2025. He was born on June 5th' 1936 in Mt. Pleasant to Russell and Florence (West) and raised by F. Ione (Rea). Bill attended Lubbock High School yaduating class of 1955. He joined the US Marine Corp in January 1956 and married Valencia on May 19th, 1956. They were blessed with 3 children James Russell Hewett, Ronald Darryl Hewett, and Sandra Kay Hewett. Bill and Valencia were charter members of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church where they fell in love, were married, and had all their children baptized. Bill joined the Lubbock Fire Deptartment in May of 1959, and obtained a degree in Fire Protection Technology from South Plains College in 1977. Received Kiwanis' award "Firefighter of the year" in 1990. After many honors and promotions Bill retired from the Lubbock Fire Department as a Lieutenant in 1991. Served on Woodrow Volunteer Fire Dept. for 20 years retiring as Fire Chief. Severed as a Scout Master in the US Boy Scouts for 22 yrs. Created a real estate sign business. Bill enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and had many wonderful adventures traveling. He had a real passion for golfing where he won many trophies.
Preceded in death by his parents Russell, Florence, and Ione Hewett, his Sons James R. Hewett and Ronald D. Hewett.
Survived by wife of 69 years Valencia Hewett, daughter Sandra Hewett, brothers Keith Hewett and wife Joyce, Gayland Hewett and wife Netty. Grandchildren: Heather and husband Jonathan Sifuentes, Jamie and husband Brad Bowie, Steven Hewett and wife Shabnam (Amirpanah), James Bacigalupo V, Maegan Bacigalupo. Great-grandchildren: Donovan Wilkerson, Nathaiel Sifuentes, Zackery Sifuentes, Angel Sifuentes, Heaven Sifuentes, Jeremiah Sifuentes, Riley Travis, Kaleb Travis, Nolan Bowie, Trevor Bowie.
Pallbearers for the service will be: James E. Bacigalupo V, Steven C. Hewett, Jonathan Sifuentes,Barry Donalson, and Troy Lutfrel.
Visitation will be held on May 26th at Resthaven from 5 to 7. Funeral services will be held at Forrest Heights United Methodist Church on May n27th, 2025 at I pm with grave site service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a memorial donation to Forrest Heights United Methodist Church. The family would also like to thank the Lubbock Firefighter Honor Guard.
