

William C. “Mickey” Powell , 84, died Dec. 31, 2013 in Edmond, Oklahoma. William was born in Paducah, Texas to Irene (Campbell) and Howard Powell on October 12, 1929. He spent his childhood in Paducah and completed high school at the Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio. He attended Texas Tech, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating he went to work for the Texas State Highway Dept, eventually retiring as Right of Way Director for the West Texas area. He also operated a small office supply and did consulting work for FEMA. Mickey was married to Wanda Jean Schoepf on September 22, 1950 in Lubbock. She preceded him in death earlier in the year. He is also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Powell.
A lifelong Baptist and member of the NRA, he loved his family, Texas Rangers baseball, and dominoes.
Mr. Powell is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Terry and husband Don of Stillwater, OK, Renee Smith and husband Barry of Hurst, TX, and Resa Prather and husband Jackie of Lubbock; son, Rick Powell and wife Sharon of Colleyville, TX; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Resthaven Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m Wednesday, January 8th, 2014. Visitation for family and friends is from 5:00 pm -7:00 p.m Tuesday at Resthaven.
