
Mr. Oatis was a heavy equipment operator and a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
Cleotha will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Austin and Lucy Mae Oatis; three brothers, Austin Oatis, Jr., Patrick Oatis, and Jesse James; and one stepson, Kenny Portis.
Survivors include his wife, Lannie Oatis of Lumberton, MS; one son, Cleotha Oatis, Jr. of Rochester, NY; one stepson, Kelvin Portis of San Diego, CA; two stepdaughters, Barbara Portis and Shequita Portis, both of Lumberton, MS; four brothers, Mitchell Oatis of Columbia, MS, Ben Oatis of Marion County, MS, Marlon Oatis of New Orleans, LA, and Edward James of Magnolia, MS; three sisters, Flora Oatis of Columbia, MS, Carrie James and Rose James, both of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral ceremony at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at New Hope Memorial United Methodist Church, 187 Highway 43, Columbia, Mississippi 39429 with interment to follow in Wellstown Cemetery in Lumberton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services, Saturday at the church.
