“Don Cary” was born on September 8, 1952, in Poplarville, MS, to Ada Margaret and Donovan M.
Bounds. He lived most of his life in and around Lumberton and Kiln, Mississippi.
After completing his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, Don began a 25 year career in education. He was an excellent football coach, head baseball coach, and teacher. Coach Bounds worked in the Lumberton, Purvis, Picayune, and Hancock County schools throughout his career.
Don Cary was an avid deer and turkey hunter. His love for his hunting dogs was to be admired. He also loved all sports, NASCAR, the New York Yankees, and was known for his amazing cooking and grilling skills.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ada Margaret and Don Bounds.
Don Cary is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Karen Mangrum Bounds, his brother, Rand Bounds (Susan) of Kiln, MS; his niece Randa Bounds Fingleton (Brian) of Madisonville, LA, his nephew, Justin Bounds (Kiley) of Fredericksburg, TX, his two step-sons, Jeremy Holland of Lucedale, MS, and Robbie Lawrence (Rebecca) of Destrahan, LA, and special friends, Ruthie and Stanley Hester, of Lumberton. He also leaves behind four great-nephews, Jaxon and Beaux Bounds, Tadhg and Andrew Fingleton, and a host of cousins and life-long friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Lumberton United Methodist Church, 410 W. 11 th Avenue, on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 am. The service will be officiated by Danny Powell. A private interment will be in the Lumberton City Cemetery at a later date.
