Miss Elia Marie Waguespack

Elia Marie Waguespack, born February 12, 1922 on Laura Plantation in Vacherie, LA, died August 19, 2010 at Lafourche Home for the Aged, Thibodaux, La. She was 88. She was a retired teacher with the St. James Parish School Board with 40 years of service.

Preceded in death by her parents; Sidney P. Waguespack, Sr. and Blanche Haydel Waguespack, a brother Sidney P. Waguespack, Jr., a niece, Pamela Waguespack and a nephew, Leo Bourgeois, Jr.

Survivors include her brother, Haydel A. Waguespack, Sr. and his wife Leanne of Garyville, La, her sisters, Marcelle W. Haydel and her husband Claude, and Blanche W. Troxclair and her husband Leon, both of Jefferson, La., Jewell W. Cuccia and her husband Louis, of Terrytown, La., and Gaynell W. Bourgeois and her husband Leo, of Vacherie, La., nieces Michelle B. Schexnayder and Nannette B. Nickens, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 9:00 am until 11:15 am at the St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am from the church with Fr. Christopher Decker officiant. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.

She was a member of Court St. Philip Catholic Daughters No. 1504, and the Ladies Altar Society of St. Philip Catholic Church Parish. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph Hospice and Lafourche Home for the Aged for the care they have given her.
