 Obituario de Alan Vaughan
Timothy Alan Vaughan, 57, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Lynchburg, June 3, 1964, he was the son of Delores Jones Crumpton of Lynchburg and the late William Marx Vaughan. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lucy Jean Goodman. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rose Dunn Vaughan; his brother, Daniel Vaughan and his sister, Wanda Rivers (Mark); two step-children, Randall Scott Goodman and Sheree Dawn Goodman and his grandchildren who knew him as Papa Alan, Randal Goodman, Jr. “Little Buck”, Kate Goodman “Katie Mae”, Hannah Goodman “Little Onion” and Kaylee Goodman “Peedab”. Rest in peace Papa Alan. From the time Alan was a little more than two years old he had a portable turntable he would sit on the floor and play records on. He'd play a song, lay his head on the floor in front of the speaker and listen. Then repeat the process over and over and over. It started with Marty Robbins' "Mr. Shorty." He loved music and musicians especially guitar players. He, himself was self taught. He had his own unique style and sound, and loved to play and sing especially in the church beginning with the Cane Ridge Singers in the early 80's and lastly with Shekinah Glory Baptist, his home church. Alan had a big personality. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off of his back. As long as he had the necessities, the things of this world never held sway with him. He loved his family and he loved them well. But he particularly loved his mother and all of his grandkids, even the one he never got to hold. He did have his favorite and everyone, including her, knew it, his little Onion. Alan was very passionate. You couldn't meet him and not know it. He had a very inventive and creative mind and was always working on one project or another with his old friend, Richard Phelps. He loved to read about inventors from Nikola Tesla, Einstein, Elon Musk, even Mike Lindell. He studied copyright laws and developing patents, and spoke of them with intrigue. Alan was a story teller. He could have you wide eyed and jumping in your seat or bursting with laughter over one of his animated memories of days gone by. Alan fiercely loved his country and would stand in the face of anyone to defend it. He always recognized his responsibilities to it and the value of a man protecting the gifts God bestows on him. He believed in God and His word. The 1611 was the one for him. His favorite verse was Second Corinthians 12:9 {paraphrased} "God's grace is sufficient." He was honorable to his parents doing all he could for them especially as they aged. It was something he never questioned. He just did. Alan was the kind of person, if you needed him day or night, all you had to do was call him, and he'd be on it. When or if you thanked him, he'd say "That's what families do" or that's what friends are for." For those of us left behind waiting our turn, including the love of his life, his wife, Rose, it's hard to process that he's already received his crown. We miss him more deeply than words could ever say. He will never be forgotten. A memorial celebration of his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Shekinah Glory Baptist Church with Dr. A.T. Dunn, Pastor Donnie Ennis and Rev. Carlton Dunn, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Donnie & Thelma Ennis.
