

Audrey Anstey Magri, 97, peacefully slipped away on November 26, 2014. She was the widow of Ralph J. Magri, Jr. and is survived by her children: Dr. Michael B. Magri and wife, Cristina Pacho, of Goode, Va.; Ralph J. Magri, III and wife, Maxine, of Harrisonburg, Va.; Thomas H. Magri and wife, Katherine, of Roanoke, Va.; and Sally M. Snyder and husband, Gavin J. Snyder, of Richmond, Va. She had five grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Audrey was the third of seven children born to Augustus Henry Anstey and Sallie McDaniel Anstey in Campbell County, Virginia. Her brother, Fred Anstey and his wife, Dell, and her sister-in-law, Doris B. Anstey as well as many nieces and nephews survive her. She attended Holy Cross Academy until the family moved to Rustburg and she graduated from Rustburg High School. She met Ralph Joseph Magri, jr. while attending Holy Cross Academy . They married on September 2, 1944. Audrey was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a “Ladies of Charity” member. She was a bookkeeper for the law office of Caskie, Frost, Davidson, Hobbs, and Hamblin until her retirement in 1983. She had many friends and enjoyed traveling, especially her trip to England with her son, Tom, to visit relatives. She took art classes in 1991 and developed an interest in painting, preferring acrylics. Her children have several of her paintings displayed in their homes. Audrey and Ralph moved into the Summit Assisted Living in early 2008. Following Ralph’s death on February 14, 2009, Audrey moved into Skilled Care.
A Celebration Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Msr. J. Kenneth Rush officiating. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Brenda Stokes, the staff at the Summit, and Hospice.
