Bessie Scott Karnes

Bessie Scott Karnes, 83, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019. Born in Lynchburg, November 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Josephus Morgan Scott and Thelma Payne Scott. She worked for GE for over 20 years and later retired from Waytec Corporation. She attended Pleasant View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Perry Ray Karnes and Joseph D. Karnes. Survivors include her former husband, David Karnes of Evington, her daughter-in-law Kelly Karnes; two grandchildren, Jessica K. Fisher and Trevor J. Karnes and two great grandchildren, Coleson Fisher and Colin Fisher. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Rick Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
