Bettie/Betty June Ware Curl received her angel wings on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, and went to join her husband Jack Walter Curl, parents Robert Alver and Audrey Davis Ware, and brother Joseph Radford in heaven.
Betty grew up in Amherst County and worked in Lynchburg after graduation. A year later she met Jack at church where she was the pianist and he was a ministerial student at University of Lynchburg (formerly Lynchburg College). Fate has a way of influencing lives and after a whirlwind courtship they married. With Jack’s employment they lived in Louisiana where Jack Jr. was born, Galveston, Texas, and later in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. In Mississippi they started a family business where Betty worked primarily as the bookkeeper. After Jack died Betty returned to her roots in Virginia.
Betty was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was a faithful volunteer in the church office.
She always loved playing the piano, working puzzle books, spending time with family, and gardening.
Betty is survived by her son, Jack Curl Jr., of Houston, Texas, her sisters Barbara Gallagher (Jerry), Joyce Maddox (Hilton), Carolyn Wagner (Jim), nieces and nephews Bryan Gallagher, Debbie Leake, Teresa Dix, Joann Ware, Whitney and A. J. Wagner, and numerous other relatives.
