She was born in Liberty, North Carolina on June 30, 1948, daughter of the late Rufus Overman and the late Rosa Overman.
Her husbands, James McPherson and Mike Harding; two brothers, Johnny Overman and Jake Overman and one sister, Lucille Hayes, preceded Betty in death.
She was a member of Living Stones Church of God in Oxford, North Carolina. Betty loved her Lord & Savior. She enjoyed gardening and was a real animal lover. She also enjoyed cooking for friends and family
Her daughter, Tammy M. Johnston and her husband Steven “Elwood”; two sisters, Susie Ferguson and Betty Joyce as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Henry survive her.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to staff members of Centra Hospice, Lauren Good, Becky Goodyear, Tina Scott, and Chaplin Susan Allen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society or West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
