
Born on November 3, 1938 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Beverly Thomas Millner and Alice Davis Millner.
Jean retired from American Legion Post 16 as a secretary. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Altavista.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria Jean McCormick; her sister, Brenda M. Taylor; and her brother, Bernard N. Millner.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, James Robert McCormick and wife Susan of Brunswick, GA and Lee Caldwell of Forsyth, GA; two step-children, Frances L. Eighme of CA and John Layne and wife Alison of CA; six grandchildren, Dawn McCormick Norman and husband Robert Charles of Rustburg, Dustin McCormick and wife Brittany of Atlanta, GA; Caitlin McCormick Lewis and husband Logan of Savannah, GA, Zack Eighme of CA, Abby Eighme of CA, and Katelyn Layne of CA; seven great grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Nathan, and Tabitha Norman, all of Rustburg, McKenzie Barnett of Savannah, GA, Ella Lewis of Savannah, GA, and Audrey McCormick of Atlanta, GA; a special adopted daughter, Lisa K. McCormick of Rustburg; brothers-in-law Bill Layne and wife Mary and Frank Layne; and sister-in-law, Nancy Layne.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Breaux and Dr. Don and Peggy Fowler officiating.
