Charles, born November 14, 1932, always wanted to serve his country as his brothers did, but due to contracting polio at 12 years old he was unable to do so. He became a certified master watchmaker working for Dalton Jewelry for 16 years and retiring from Bowen Jewelry Company after 41 years. Charles was amongst the first members of Timberlake Baptist Church and attended services regularly since the tent revival meetings.
In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in passing by his wife of 63 years Geraldine Wilkerson; his brothers Thomas, Frank, Joel Preston, and Basil Wilkerson; his sisters Kathleen Jordan, Bernice Williams and Edna Williams.
Those left to cherish Charles’ memory include his daughter Inga; nephews Thomas Wilkerson, Glenn Wilkerson, Ro Williams III, Mike Williams, Dickie, David and Donald Jordan; his nieces Paula Kaye Wilkerson and Ruby Wilkerson Flood.
A celebration of Charles’ life will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor Larry Brodie, with interment to take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 12pm at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
He was a loving and caring husband, father and friend and will be missed by all those who knew him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Elaine Nice, Lynn and Randall Ellis for the monthly cards; special friends John Stephens, Janice Driscoll, Ruth Lamar, Betty Allen, Mary Alice Toms and Craig Messenger for the many visits and calls; and to his good neighbors Andrew Dalton and his family.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to send memorial contributions are asked to consider Timberlake Christian Schools or Allow the Children.
