

Christie Shipe Lewis, 87, of Forest passed away Thursday April 14, 2016, at her residence. She was the wife of the late William Raymond Lewis. Born February 8, 1929, in Riverside, PA, she was the daughter of the late William H. Shipe and the late Lillian Hauck Shipe. Christie was a retired secretary for the U.S. Government, and a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the 50 Plus Ministry. Christie also served as an AWANA leader for 15 years.
In addition to her husband and parents, Christie was preceded in death by three siblings, her twin sister, Dora Shipe Newlin, Ward Shipe and Phil Shipe.
Christie is survived by her son, Mark Lewis and his wife Melanie of Forest; two grandchildren, SaraBeth Lewis Cash and her husband Lacon and Michael Raymond Lewis; two great grandchildren, Ryan Daniel Cash and Oliver Landon Cash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Dr. Scott Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Amelia Veteran’s Cemetery in Amelia Court House, Virginia.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2016, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 50 Plus Ministry at Thomas Road Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
