
Born May 18, 1931 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Haywood William and Anna Watson Marsh and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Ratliff and two brothers, Thomas Haywood Marsh and Michael Wayne Marsh. He was retired from CSX Railroad, was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and attended Randolph Memorial Baptist Church and Calvary Cross Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, Ann Martin Marsh, , he is survived by one son, Clyde E. Marsh, Jr. of Madison Heights; one sister, Kay Marsh Woody and husband, Bennie F. Woody, Jr., also of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, Marianne Harvey, Ian Ratliff, Miles Ratliff, and Sarah Ann Marsh; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Harvey; many nieces and nephews; his “hunting buddies”, Allen, Calvin, Betty, and Perry and his faithful Bassett Hound, Lucy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at Calvary Cross Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Hudson and Dr. Derek Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
