Our Angel that lived, laughed, and loved, Cynthia Jean Wilson Kibbey, of Lynchburg VA, joyfully joined her son, John David up in heaven on Tuesday, December 16, 2015 after her valiant fight with stomach cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters helped to carry her through these past 17 months. Yet even throughout her own struggle with Cancer, her first concern was always her family, especially her two grandsons.
Known for her sweetness of nature and strength of character she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Born in Plainview Texas to Cotton farmers, Cynthia maintained a loving and simple demeanor throughout her life that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and affection, will never be forgotten.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard Kibbey of Lynchburg, VA; her loving daughter, Rachel Diane Campbell and husband Mike of Warrenton, VA; her two grandchildren, Matthew David and Eric Joseph Campbell of Warrenton, VA; her sister, Deborah Ann McLean and husband Bruce of Gig Harbor, WA; her niece, Jamie Lizabeth Potyondy and husband Louis of Federal Way, WA; her great nieces, Carolyn Grace and Avery Lizabeth Potyondy of Federal Way, WA; and her in-law’s, Kibbey Rock of Vancouver, WA.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually but know she would want to include Ron Moitzfield of St Louis MO and Amy Gribschaw of Ashburn VA.
There will be a Memorial Service with visitation afterward led by Pastor David at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church, 21206 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, Virginia (434) 239-2788 on Saturday, December 20, 2015 at 12:00pm.
