MSG. Danny O’Neil Farrar U.S.Army (Ret) 64, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Helen Hogan Farrar. Master Sgt. Farrar retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service and he also retired from International Paper.
Born July 31, 1947 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Ruben Curtis and Hester Gowen Farrar. He is also preceded in death by two brothers Curtis Randolph Farrar, Sr. and Claude Edward Farrar.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Justin O. Farrar and wife Thais of Lynchburg, Jonathan W. Farrar and wife, Vesna of Forest; six sisters-in-law, Arlene Farrar, Arlene Folyd, Barbara Collins, Peggy Knight, Jean Tyree, Cathy Tyree; two brothers-in-law, Jack Tyree, Larry Tyree; special nurse, Crystal; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many special friends.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Fort Hill Memorial Park by Pastor Doug Turner.
The family will receive friends at Whitten Timberlake Chapel today from 7-8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Centra Hospice.
